The Model of Jesus' Disciple Making
A disciple of Jesus is a believer relating with God intimately, walking in the Spirit, obeying God's word and growing towards Christlikeness for His Glory. We see this in 4 significant phases below.

Phase 1
Come and See

This phase is designed for those who are exploring the Christian faith, including pre-believers and believers who are not yet connected to a church community. Many come through personal invitations and relationships, and are open to discovering who Jesus is in a welcoming environment.
At this stage, people are drawn to meaningful, relevant messages, well-organised gatherings, and a warm, friendly church culture. As they begin their journey, we help them learn foundational spiritual practices such as prayer and reading the Bible, gain assurance of their faith, and take their next step by receiving Christ and being water baptised.
This second phase of discipleship focuses on helping believers grow in Christ as their faith becomes more consistent in daily life. As Jesus invites us to “Follow Me” (Matthew 4:19), believers deepen their commitment and begin forming Christlike habits and character.
In this phase, disciples are guided and modeled in how to spend time with God and are encouraged to live out their faith by sharing it with others. The focus is on establishing four key foundations of the Christian life: the Word, prayer, fellowship, and witnessing. As a result, core beliefs and values are increasingly reflected through consistent Christlike behaviour.
Believers in this phase begin to practice accountability and spiritual discipline. While growth and maturity are encouraged, they are not yet expected to take on leadership roles within ministry.

Phase 2
Come Follow Me

Phase 3
Be With Me

This third phase of discipleship focuses on deepening faithfulness and preparing believers for a long-term commitment to Christ. At this stage, disciples grow into faithful witnesses whose lives reflect Christ through their words, actions, and daily choices.
Believers begin to live out God’s calling with greater clarity, growing in disciple-making, leadership, and service. They learn to practice Christ’s lordship and submission in everyday life, shaping their character and decisions around God’s will.
As spiritual maturity increases, believers develop a deeper understanding of biblical truth and a daily dependence on the Holy Spirit for Christlike living. This phase marks a season of intentional growth, spiritual depth, and readiness to serve faithfully in God’s Kingdom.
This last phase is characterized by the life of the Apostles after Christ’s resurrection. In this phase, Disciple-makers are defined by the following characteristics:
-
Spiritual Maturity: They are strong in spiritual disciplines and rely on the Holy Spirit to live a godly, perspective-driven life. (1 Timothy 4:7-8)
-
Doctrinal Integrity: They are able to teach, discern, and correct false doctrines. (1 Timothy 1:3, 4:11-12)
-
Christ-like Modeling: They maintain intimacy with God, love His community, and model Christ-likeness in their daily living. (1 Peter 2:21, Titus 2:7)
-
Spiritual Parenting: Disciple-making or spiritual mentoring is not just a task, but a way of life—also known as spiritual parenting.

Phase 4
Remain In Me
